Historically important, an old time specimen from the Dr. Joseph Leidy collection. Dr. Leidy (1823-1891) is considered the "Father of American Vertebrate Paleontology." The gem variety chlorastrolite commonly knwn as "greenstone" occures as an amygdule fillings in basalt. This is the state gemstone of Michigan.
