This rhodochrosite specimen simply exudes quality. Collectors around the globe recognize the Sweet Home as the world's premier occurrence for rhodochrosite. Mined in August of 2004, just two months prior to the permanent closure of the mine, this specimen ranks among the top 10 specimens discovered in 2004.
This piece possesses the finest qualities in a Sweet Home Mine specimen. One could not ask for better aesthetic composition, the primary crystals are oriented on the matrix for optimimum viewing and the top surfaces of the rhodochrosite crystals have been dusted with small, nicely contrasting crystals of quartz. The color of the rhodochrosite is a vibrant, cherry red. The individual crystals are quite large, measuring up to 2.1 cm across, and they exhibit very good gemminess and luster. Overall the specimen is in fine condition.
