SKU: Vault Amethyst
Dimensions: 11 x 13 x 8 cm
The name amethyst comes from ancient Greece meaning "not intoxicated"! The Greeks believed that the stone protected them from drunkenness. They wore it and made drinking vessels decorated with it, believing it would prevent over intoxication. Specimens with the aesthetic qualities of this piece have an ability to intoxicate the mind of anyone around it!
The arrangement of crystals is perfect with the dominant focal crystal nicely framed by the crown of crystals behind it. This specimen is from the find about 10 years ago. The color and clarity of the amethyst crystals is nearly flawless. The matrix has a micro-crystalline druse of green epidote, lending the perfect contrast to the purple amethyst crystals.
Recent discoveries of amethyst from this Mexican locality have not had the saturation of color like this specimen. This piece is a museum quality specimen. It would be a star in any collection!
