Dimensions: 7 x 7.5 x 6.3 cm
A dramatic combination specimen featuring a 2 cm wide cavansite crystal cluster perched on a 2.9 cm wide calcite crystal. The matrix of the specimen is covered with stilbite crystals to 1.5 cm. All the species on the specimen have good luster and are in excellent condition.
Cavansite was named for it's building blocks, calcium, vanadium, and silicate. When the specimens from the Wagholi Quarries hit the mineral markets they created a lot of excitement. The striking color of the deep blue crystal rosettes on a contrasting white stilbite covered matrix makes for the aesthetics all mineral collector's desire. Specimens with the calcite association were rare, especially with the way the rosette on this specimen is set atop the calcite with smaller crystal groups framing it.
