Kagem Emerald Mine, Kafubu area, Zambia

The Kagem Emerald Mine is one of the world's largest producers of gem-quality emeralds. Kagem is a highly mechanized, open pit and underground mine complex covering approximately one square kilometer and employing a crew of more than four hundred.

When cut and polished Kagem mine emeralds are of exceptional quality. The gemstones possess outstanding clarity and superb color saturation.

In 2009 Gemfields PLC, owner and operator of the Kagem Mine, approached The Collector's Edge Minerals to prepare and market specimens from the mine.

This specimen named "The Cross" is one of the finest small cabinet specimens to come from the mine. It has been featured in ads in many of the foremost publications in the hobby.

The specimen has great color and luster, along with aesthetic balance, making it one of the great collectable specimens from the locality. Please contact either Richard at richard@collectorsedge.com, or Steve at steve@collectorsedge.com with any questions, or for more photographs of the specimen.
