Barite, This cabinet barite specimen features a doubly terminated barite crystal 4.3 cm long. The crystal is translucent and lustrous. The main crystal does have one small chip. The matrix is coated with microcrystalline honey yellow calcite.

Barite, This large cabinet barite specimen features a 4.5 cm tall root beer colored crystal that is both gemmy and lustrous. The barite crystal is nested in honey-yellow calcite crystals to 1 cm. Barite specimens with the luster this one has are not common making this a great catch for any collector! The specimen comes with a label stating it was collected in the late 50's by C. Lewis.

Barite, The barite specimens from the Elk Creek area of Meade County, South Dakota have been long regarded as some of the finest barite specimens available in the hobby. The rootbeer colored barite crystals nicely contrasted on the golden yellow calcite covered matrix, makes for great aesthetics. This specimen embodies all of those factors. The barite crystals measure up to 3.2 cm tall and are gemmy and have good luster. The calcite is exceptional on this piece with crystals to 1.5 cm.

Barite on Calcite, This specimen features a 3.2 cm barite crystal standing nicely isolated on a calcite covered matrix. The rootbeer colored barite crystal is gemmy and has great luster on most of its crystal faces. The termination faces are slightly solution etched, giving them a frosty appearance. The calcite crystal are large, up to 1.2 cm long, and have good luster too. A nice piece for the locality.

Barite on Calcite, The matrix plate on this specimen is nearly completely covered in golden yellow calcite crystals to 1.2 cm. Across the top ridge of the matrix are several glassy barite crystals up to 2.6 cm tall. They are highly translucent and a beautiful rootbeer color. The specimen is in excellent condition with only a couple calcite crystals showing contact from removed sections of the concretion.
